March and Martis

According to Greek tradition, wearing a braided bracelet from red and white string on the first day of March, is considered to help protect the wearer's skin from the strong Greek sun.
The traditional bracelet is called "Martis", meaning March in Greek.

As soon as March ends, wearer can remove the bracelet from his/her wrist and place it on a bush or tree. Tradition says that swallows will use the bracelet to build their nest.

Have a look at our own versions of "Martis" bracelets, and order yours now, online on Etsy, or via mail.

Amazing walls

You know that we absolutely love woven wall hangings.
After all it is such a great alternative to decorate your walls avoiding more "traditional" solutions, as pictures, drawings and photos.
This kind of wall hangings can be a marvelous addition to every room, adding an extra boho and handmade feeling to your space.
These are some great examples of spaces which are decorated with woven hangings.

And here of-course are some of our own woven wall hangings. Each one is 100% handmade by us, using a wooden weaving loom. Great care, a lot of love and special attention to details are spent in every step of the creation process.

Parallel Sundays

This post's alternative title could be "Greek countryside versus British countryside".

You most probably know that Beh1nd's partners are living apart for a couple of years now.
Time difference and distance is distressing but we're somehow getting used to it.
We get synchronized when it comes to (distance) crafting days and brainstorming meetings.
It feels even better when we get to do alternative activities in parallel, such as taking short excursions on the same day but in different places (for old times' sake; we used to jaunt a lot together in the past, especially on our bikes) and then exchange photos and impressions.

Here we'd like to share with you some photos showing how this Sunday has been spent in a beautiful picturesque village of Northern Greece called Skra, on mount Paiko, famous for its several waterfalls and its magical scenery. The weather was cloudy most of the time we stayed in the woods, so it was not possible to capture the celebrated "blue lagoon" (we'll do next time, promise).

On the same day and about 2.700km north, weather treated us better (weird isn't it?), as you can see in below photos taken at Knole Park, a beautiful castle and park located near Sevenoaks town, in Kent. In the pictures you can see the majestic 15th century Knole House, which used to be the Archbishop's palace. Apart from visiting the manor's Orangery and gardens, we suggest you spend some time in the visitor's centre. And last but not least, one shall not leave Knole without wandering around the 100-acres medieval deer park; the beauty and grace of these animals is just awesome and the natural setting will definitely "cleanse" your mind.

How did you spend your weekend?
What are your favorite short getaways?

Watercolor owl

Today was all about colors. A visit to a hobby store this morning and the fact that I’ve spent at least an hour gazing at the oil and acrylic colors stand only, made me realize that I hadn’t painted for quite a long time.
And just like that, I ended up mixing colors all afternoon!

I got inspired by a barn owl photo I found on my desktop – how cute is this little creature?
 – and this is what my watercolor owl finally looks like.

Hope you like it (I do)!

Have a lovely weekend and, of course...
Keep smiling!
Kat.
