According to Greek tradition, wearing a braided bracelet from red and
white string on the first day of March, is considered to help protect
the wearer's skin from the strong Greek sun.
The traditional bracelet is called "Martis", meaning March in Greek.
As soon as March ends, wearer can remove the bracelet from his/her wrist and place it on a bush or tree. Tradition says that swallows will use the bracelet to build their nest.
